The island of Capri is the jewel of the bay of Naples, it is world wide famous for the blue grotto, the faraglioni cliffs, the marvellous vegetation and the spectacular sights. It has two villages, Capri and Anacapri.

There are many fascinating traces which show its glorious history such as the walls of the Greek time, the Roman baths and the villa Jovis which was the palace of the emperor Tiberius, the monastery of saint James (1371), the church of saint Michael (1700) which has a wonderful floor covered with precious ceramics, and the villa San Michele (1896) whose owner was the Swedish doctor and writer Axel Munthe. This villa is at present an interesting museum and offers from its terraces an impressive sight of the peninsula of Sorrento.
